There are actions we need to take to activate the rudraksha for its effectiveness. You or a priest must energize your Rudraksha. It’s a rather easy process, and this post will explain all you need to know and walk you through each step.

Choosing the Right Moment

Choosing an auspicious day and time is the first step. This might be based on specific beliefs, lunar schedules, or astrological maps. This ritual is more effective when performed during a spiritually significant period. Astrologically significant days, such as those associated with Lord Shiva or other deities worshipped in your culture, are usually chosen for their significant harmonious compatibility with spiritual activities.

Preparing the Space and Yourself

Start the process with a clean body and mind. After having a bath, gather the necessary details for the blessings (Pungavya). A combination of cow’s dung, urine, milk, ghee, and curd. If unapproachable, try Punchamrit, which contains unboiled milk. These chemicals are said to provide cleansing properties and have historically been used to bring peace and purity. These are some steps to prepare:

  • An Achamani jar filled with Ganges water, Kusha turf for smattering, and a ladle. The Ganges water has great spiritual importance and is commonly utilized in sanctification rites.
  •  Place the Peepal leaves on a plate. This is an offering plate for the details of the puja. It will contain the information you have given to the Rudraksha, which symbolizes your commitment and respect.
  • Dhoop and incense stick. These are used to filter the air and create a peaceful environment.
  • Lighting a lighthouse and burning camphor are traditional ways of summoning the divine presence.
  • Sandalwood paste and a beautiful oil painting. These are used for their calming and cleansing properties.
  • Rice grains mixed with Ashtagandha. Rice is a common dish used in many rituals, and it is usually mixed with chutney to enhance the spiritual significance.
  • A ghee lamp with only one wick. The light of the ghee lamp represents knowledge and the presence of gods.
  • Clothes, flowers, fruits, betel leaves and coconut.

Setting up the Space

Sit on the mat facing the east. This direction is often considered auspicious in many spiritual topics. It is believed that sitting facing the east connects people with the natural flow of spiritual energy.

Washing Rudraksha

First, wash the Rudraksha with Punchgavya or Punchamrit. This step is important in removing any physical pollution and preparing the drop for the injection of divine energy. Also, wash it with Ganges water. This water is thought to contain cleansing packages that can cleanse the Rudraksha from a spiritual perspective.

Arrange the Rudraksha

Place the holy Rudraksha on a plate among nine Peepal leaves. In front of this thali, place an empty plate for havan. This arrangement signifies the willingness to accept divine blessings.

Invoking the Divine

Begin the chanting procedure with reverence and concentration. Here are mantras for chanting and steps for how to chant :

  •  Chant “Om Namah Shivaya” three times. This vital chant attracts Lord Shiva’s presence and unites the powers with the ceremony.
  • Sprinkle water over yourself and all of the Puja particulars while saying. “Om Apavitrah Pavitro, Sarva Vastan, Gatopi Va” This chant is a sanctification mantra that protects the guru’s virginity and the ceremonial environment.
  • These mantras invoke the blessings of the Guru, Lord Ganesha, family deities, specific divinities, and ancestors. Pour water from your right hand onto the ground while chanting “Om Govindaya Namaha”. This deed represents the immolation of reverence for the Earth and the foundation of divine energy.
  •  Sprinkle water on the Rudraksha with Kusha grass from the Achamani pot while chanting. “Om Sadyojaatam Prapadyaami Sadyojataajava Namo Namaha” or “ Bhave Bhavenaati Bhave Bhavasvamaam Bhavodbhavay Namaha” These chants are devoted to the different aspects of Lord Shiva, invoking his presence in the Rudraksha.
