Best Time to Chant Lord Shiva Mantras

Though the Lord Shiva mantras can be chanted at any time with focus and devotion, certain times are considered auspicious to achieve a higher spiritual experience and more profound effects for your mantra chanting. Brahma Muhurta is the best time, it is approximately one-and-a-half hours before sunrise (from approximately 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM) when the mind is calm and the conditions in the atmosphere are particularly spiritually charged. The early mornings give you the benefit of added concentration and receptivity to the spiritual realm. Mondays are also considered to be very beneficial days for chanting because it is the day of Lord Shiva.

If you have no other time to chant during the week other than Monday, it is highly recommended. Mondays in the Julian calendar for spirituality, however, the months of Shravan (July-August) are especially pious and special for most devotees of Lord Shiva.

Preferably, chanting mantras should be performed during the Pradosh Kaal (the twilight period right before sunset, and midnight), when it is considered that that is the time and day that the energy of Shiva can be reached the most easily. Chanting mantras during the time of Maha Shivratri is a very powerful time for chanting mantras, and ideally is a good time for support and Transformation through chanting. While the time could be effective in combination with the chanting, the most important thing about chanting, regardless of time, is that mantras are chanted out of true faith and devotion with a pure heart.

Conclusion

For many reasons, the process of chanting the mantras of Lord Shiva is a wonderful spiritual exercise and has many advantages for achieving peace, link protection, and personal development. Mantra meaning in Sanskrit is “to retain” in essence, a Mantra is a sacred sound that connects the devotee to divine energy, beyond still freezing the mind, purifying the soul, and transformation.

With commitment to a daily practice, dedication and sincerity, a devotee can not only build peace and strength within themselves, but also a sense of being in connection with supreme consciousness.
